well. He and a collaborator dialoguing back and
forth, or monologuing back and forth, as the case
may be.
As for the lasting impact of his ideas, that’s a very
difficult question. I almost think that the thing that
McLuhan perhaps would want to have as a lasting
legacy is his insistence that people try to
understand their environment more clearly, and
particularly not to substitute moral judgment for
insight into actually what is happening.
